Laws around the U.S. are rolling out to aggressively curb “doctor shopping.” Texas has formalized its law that will mandate dentists to access a state database for all Schedule II, III, IV and V controlled substance prescriptions.

This program is widely referred to in Texas as the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). The PMP provides a patient’s prescription history to the prescriber, allowing you to help eliminate overprescribing of opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates or carisoprodol in Texas.
